How an ancient cemetary is transformed to a Paradise for tourists!

Writer's picture: Yannis KalafatisYannis Kalafatis

Many many years ago, When Romans were expanding their landscape, exploring new areas and the vast sea, oftern they would fight. Victory was not all the time by their side. Even though, most of the times they would succeed. In the area of Matala, lies an ancient Roman cemetary. There are no tombs or skeletons left but some holes dug in the rocks of the hill shown below.

On the other hand, we can find a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters and a gorgeous little village next to it. Art is at its strongest form here. You can see nice little houses. Others painted in modern and more complex designs and others just on the typical and traditional colours. We can even find some graffiti. How about the pavement? Even that is painted. We can find flags, faces and lot of other cool stuff which lead to local shops with a variety of items. There is also a cool car which has the role of the black sheep. It is the only one that is so unique. More like an antique painted with a special touch. Sometimes, art takes other forms too. Just to show you that creativity has no limits... How about this cool bench/ seat made out of an actual boat? Sometimes recycling is not happening in a factory. People's creativity will do.

I don't want to keep you here for longer and write lot more. let's hop on our second adventure and enjoy photography!
