More than Just a Museum!

One of the main reasons Crete is my top and favourite destination in Greece, ( even if I come from Evvia), is the variety and diversion of this island. During the hot Summer reaching up to fourty three degrees, You have the choice of swimming on the coast or escaping to the 'greener' part, closer to the mountains. There is also an option for hiking or even visiting deep canyons created by the tectonic plates, which hang out very often under this beautiful country, creating strong earthquakes. Fun fact, the ancient Greeks would translate it into the Gods being angered, creating disaster.

Moreover, In this journey we will see both seaside and the 'mainland'. As we are heading to our next stop, we will find a rather unsual museum. This will be the Museum of Homo Sapiens which I recommend you visit. I will leave a couple of links with in depth descriptions and guides https://www.landofexperiences.gr/travels/homo-sapiens/ and https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g6868713-d314690-Reviews-Homo_Sapiens_Museum-Ano_Kera_Crete.html . An interesting adventure indeed! We can see the evolution of Human kind, Starting from caves as a weak creature, scared of light and strong 'beasts' surrounding it. Slowly, making its way to capturing and cultivating animals, using them as its support and weapon. The next step is discovering fire, warming up the cold days and last learn how to cook. After all those steps which took years to build, we arrive to our age, having all this luxury and knowledge. A better description is an entire civilization!

As we walk through the one way Journey (popular aborad like in the United Kingdom), we visit windmills which are found often in Islands, utilising strong winds and convert them into energy or using the converted energy to produce goods. We can see art through statues and paintings which was part of the Journey previously described and it keeps evolving to this day. Something, I would like to see throught the future. It is also one of the few surviving art forms. Very hard to sustain as it required dedication and persistance in order to preserve the techniques from the past and modernise them or even improove them. Something very hard and it is nearly unseen these days. The worst fear would be to see it fading or maybe it has started already?

Finally, as we nearing to the exit, we go through religion, The 12 god religion that was quite popular in ancient Greece. We can see how the first form of Human kind looked like as Male and Female. Lastly, it makes us understand, us humans have fully explored earth, (and ruined it) so we start looking for expansion, that being out of planet earth!
