Everything started years ago. It was September of 2017. I had only finished my national service which is compulsory if you come from countries like Greece and I had worked a tiny tiny bit just to have enough money to 'escape'. I had some opportunites for work but still the risk was big. Nevertheless, I moved to Scotland and specifically onto the Highlands. It was an area I was not familiar with... Lot of Green, countryside, sheep and a whole new culture including people being different but not much compared to Greeks. I met lot of warm and helpful Scottish.
Apart from cultural differences, there was another big problem for me. Their accent was one I had never experienced before. It became slightly worse when I started working there. Out on the public it was a bit easier as people would understand and maybe they would speak slower or change their accent a bit but at work... It had to be done quick, precisely and many questions would only annoy people.
That was my first experience living abroad Alone. How about the every day life there. Apps on phones were popping up. In Greece, Most of the things are still done manually or there is lot of papperwork. It has started changing recently but we are changing to 2023 very soon.
Later, I got used to things there. It is a lovely place to be. I am not gonna lie but it can get a bit lonely. I would recommend it for a family or for couples though.
I didn't explore as much as I wanted. I was not travelling as much back then. I did a bit so here I am to share my experience with you. I think the level of discipline and the power you need in order to travel alone must be high. You need to have worked things out with yourself, have things to do that you like even if that's photography, books or meeting people or whatever you like. I hope you enjoy and stay tunned as we will be moving around the country soon.
Let me mention that I am having a problem with Meta platforms recently where I can not post or advertise our blog. Hope we get it fixed soon.
