As the winter approaches or is even here haha, Let us visit one of my favourite places to go in Greece, or more precisely... In Evia. I have never shared it before but it is a real getaway so why not. Snowey, quite, nice food, warm and cold at the same time with great dessert local made and on top of that amazing view. What else do you want?
Starting from my Hometown Halkida, It is about 45 minutes driving. If you haven't got access to a car, No worries; There are buses out there, Maybe fewer options during the winter but still. Going upwards to Dirfi's Mountain which you can find a huge ravine, you can also get fresh water which is quite popular in Greece as Dirfi's top quality water. Then if you keep driving pass the Steni Village and going towards the top of the mountain, it gets a bit dangerous but there you can enjoy great view and a lot of snow.
If you decide to stop at Steni village, you get few options, Either enjoy good food including Greek salad with bread, olive oil and Tzatziki, Pork or Lamb chops and a Selection of stews and other traditional goodies next to a fireplace or walk through the area where you can find old buildings or finally taste Biskotogliko and Lokoumades which are hand and locally made and I will tell you that... They are really really good! There is one last stop you should make though... If you turn slightly left instead of right which heads to the village, you will find a road that heads to the highest point of the village. There you can find a hotel where you can stay over the night or chill at the cafes with breathtaking view. You can see the rest of the village, river or snow while enjoying a hot cup of coffe or tea or anything you crave!
If winter is not your thing... No worries, Just wait for the next post in few days and let's move away from Greece in the near future, Let's travel a bit more but do not forget. I am here, we travel together so you are not alone. Enjoy!
